Tuesday’s Episode
We finally get some AJT at the last scene right before the intro muzak/credits. We see Angie and Jesse on the winding staircase at Tad’s office. Angie asks Jesse if he recognizes the voice and he says no. Tad tells Robert he doesn’t recognize him and Gardner tells him “I’m your daddy’s brother, Tad - I’m uncle Rob!” Can you say deer in the headlights? Because that’s Tad’s expression and we roll into the intro muzak.
TAD rocks! I’m so happy they are giving him some good dialogue now and weaving in this slimeball…okay…after the intro our scene continues with Tad and Uncle Rob. Tad looks at Rob and says “Uncle Rob???” Gardner offers to show identification, but Tad declines saying he can see the family resemblance (must be the horns and tail) and remembers hearing about him. Gardner asks if he can come in and Tad tells him no, he’s busy working on a case. “I heard that you were a private eye. I used to do that kind of work, maybe I can help” Robert says. “I don’t think so,” says Tad. You can soooo tell he’s disgusted already with Robert. And now he’s gonna unleash that look in words…here’s some dialogue:
Tad: Look, Uncle Rob, you and I don’t know each other from Adam, so I hope you don’t take this the — the wrong way, but even if Ray Gardner was my father, that’s only because he supplied the D.N.A. That’s all he ever supplied. As far as I’m concerned, he was a twisted, evil son of a bitch that did nothing but specialize in torturing everybody he ever came in contact with. And I’m pretty sure I was smiling the day he died.
YOU GO TAD!
That’s gonna earn a vidcap!
Scene moves to Angie and Jesse and she’s telling Jesse maybe it’s someone Tad knows. Jesse doesn’t like it and Angie asks him what he expected Tad to say “My — my friend who was supposedly dead the last 20 years is hiding upstairs, so could you please go away”? She then apologizes and Jess says it’s not her, it’s him. It’s 20 years of having to look over his shoulder. He tells her it’s hard to believe it’s all real (that they are together again) and she says “Believe it, baby. Because it is real. It is real.” “Thank God”, Jesse says and we cut back to Tad and Uncle Rob.
“Look, Tad, I — I know who my brother was, and your opinion of him is shared by many others” Robert says. Tad asks if that includes him and he says that Ray was his big brother and even though Ray was who he was, he’s still his brother. Tad thanks him for being honest and clearly would like for this conversation to end. Robert tells him he didn’t come there to take a trip down memory lane about his father. (Like he’s really going to tell Tad why he’s there LOL) He says he knows those are sad memories for everyone. So why are you here Tad asks. Hipboots Alert: Get ready to cry me a river… “You’re the only family I have, Tad, biological or otherwise, and I just that it was time that we got to know each other.” he hisses (okay maybe not hisses, but that’s what I hear when he opens his trap). He then gives Tad his cell and says he’s staying just outside town at the Seasons East. Tad says ok and takes the number. Robert asks nay almost begs for Tad to get in touch with him and asks if that’s okay with Tad. Tad tells him it’s okay, but he has a lot to finish up again trying to shut the door on this fool. Robert agrees and tells Tad that he looks good (give it a break Robert) and says “bye bye” and finally departs.
Relieved Uncle Robert is gone, Tad goes upstairs and tells A&J that it’s fine and they are all ok. Jesse asks who the guy was and Tad tells him “Good old Uncle Robert”. Who? asks Angie. Tad tells them it was Ray Gardner’s brother and Jesse said he didn’t know Ray had a brother, that Jenny had never mentioned him. Tad says he’s not surprised neither Jesse or Angie knew about as he and Jenny “went to considerable trouble to prune that side of the family tree.” Angie asks what he wanted and Tad says he was just passing through and wanted to connect with his last living relative. Angie says “Oh, that must have been fun for you.” Tad says it was more like unexpected (hello Tad - get a clue here quick please). Jesse asks what Robert was like and Angie asks if he was anything like crazy Ray. Tad tells them he doesn’t know. He seemed okay enough and offered to help me with a case because he used to do that kind of thing. “Whatever, it doesn’t matter. You don’t need to hear about it. Neither do I. God, just hearing the name “gardner” is bad enough, considering all the beatings he ever threw me, what he did to Ruth…” Tad says. Angie tells Tad that Ray was never his real father, Joe is and he always will be. Jesse asks how Tad left it with Robert and he says he didn’t…he gave me his phone number, forget it.
The next scene shows Krystal outside walking and she hears something. She turns to see who it is and it’s good ole Uncle Rob. “Who are you?” she snaps at him. He apologizes and says he didn’t mean to startle her. She says he didn’t answer her question “I said who the hell are you, mister? And why were you following me?” Robert says he wasn’t following her and he just came out of over there (pointing at Tad’s office). You had business with Tad, she asks. He says in a manner of speaking and Krystal quickly sets him straight “Either you did or you didn’t.” Tad is my nephew, Robert explains. He tells her is name is Rob Gardner and asks who she is. “Huh?…I’m Krystal. I — I’m Tad’s wife” she says and he says it’s a pleasure to meet you (oh just gag me now LOL).
Cut back to TAJ. Jesse asks Tad if that’s the end of him and Uncle Robert and Tad says “we can only hope” BUT “On the other hand, it’s probably not fair for me to blame him for all the lousy things my father did…” Angie tells him he would anyways and Tad agrees and says let’s talk about something important, like who’s still after Jesse 20 years later. He tells Jesse that if he still believes that John Remington is the key, they’ve got their work cut out for them. All they know is that Jesse took a bullet for him in 1988, and a year later, he still managed to get shot anyway. “That’s a whole lot of dots to connect, so let’s get started,” he said. Jesse says Remy always played his cards really close to the vest. But when he was tailing him, he was suspected of money laundering. Tad says if memory serves, a whole lot of people were interested in these particular drug dealers back then. Jesse thinks that the same people who tried to take him out, took Remy out asl well. But why would they wait a whole year to do it? Maybe they wanted to be sure that Remy had what they were looking for because they knew Jesse didn’t have it, Tad says. Or he says, maybe they wanted the heat to die down a bit and didn’t want the cops to look into it too much because of the connection between Remy and Jesse. Angie wants to know why they would go after Jesse when he had already told them he didn’t know anything. And they thought he was dead, added Jesse. Tad says, well they know you are alive now and that you know they definitely want something. So they have to figure out who they are so they can ask them what they want. Just then they all hear a noise and go quite like church mice. It turns out to be Krystal who is freaked simply because of their expression. She asks if anything happened and if they all are okay. Tad smiles and says they are all fine and really, really happy to see her. He asks her what is wrong and she says she was a lil shaken up out there. Tad asks what she means and she tells him she thought someone was following her and it turned out to be his Uncle Rob.
Cut to scene where Robert is looking at his cell..flipping through photos he’s taken…what a creep…VIDCAP below covers a bit of the above and this scene.
*Sorry about the weather strip showing on this - we were under a tornado watch here as you can see.
And now for our final segement on today’s show. Back at Tad’s office…
“We scared each other half to death,” Tad says. Both Krystal and Angie say they were not scared. Jesse shoots Angie a look that says you know you were scared LOL and says “Oh, yeah, miss “I’m not scared” you –too”, looking at Krystal. Krystal asks what happens now and Tad fills her in the dot connections and focusing on John Remington. Angie says John used to talk about his mother a lot and that she thinks she lives in the PV area. Tad says that might be the place to start and Jesse says let’s do this, let’s get out there! “Let’s”? Oh, sure. Let’s do this, and after we get done doing it, I’ll line up all the — the interviews with all the magazines and tv shows, because God knows we’ll get a lot of mileage off the guy that came back from the dead,” Tad says. Jesse tells Tad he needs his own sitcom - he’s so funny. Tad asks him why doesn’t he just rent himself a billboard and they both share a look. Testosterone lives! Finally a woman intervenes (Angie) and sets them both straight saying she’ll go talk to John’s mother. Well you know how that sets with Jesse without me even having to tell you, don’t you? Angie tells him they are all in this together and Tad agrees. Angie tells Jesse she’ll be careful and Jesse says this is so out of control! Angie says she’ll be fine and Tad says he’ll be right behind her. Jesse holds his hands on his head in dismay and end scene, end TAJK for today.
Previews for Wednesday do NOT show TAJK. I’ll keep you updated!
Peace!
